Detailed Surface Water Drainage Design

A full report covering the existing site and proposed development; a review of existing drainage networks, topography, geology and hydrology; the drainage hierarchy and the SuDS components selected; and the detailed design itself, including brownfield and greenfield runoff rates, full design details, water quality and general maintenance requirements.
- Detailed drainage layout drawing
The coordinated layout: pipe runs, manholes, attenuation structures and flow controls set out against the site plan, with invert and cover levels and gradients.
- Indicative construction section details
Sections through traditional drainage components, SuDS features and any bespoke devices, to inform pricing and construction by suppliers and contractors.
- Detailed hydraulic calculations
Full drainage network analysis in InfoDrainage, with performance assessed against the main storm events including the 1 in 100-year design event, for both present day and climate change scenarios. FEH rainfall data is used throughout. Greenfield runoff rates are calculated by the ICP SuDS method using SAAR 9120 values.

A full report covering:
- The existing site and proposed development
- Watercourses and existing drainage infrastructure, topography, geology and hydrology, and the climate change allowances applied
- Flood risk from all sources - fluvial, tidal, surface water, groundwater, sewer and reservoir - with a risk rating for each, assessed using:
- The Environment Agency’s site-specific fluvial or tidal hydraulic model for sites in Flood Zones 2 and 3, supplied as Product 4 or Product 6 data where available, giving modelled levels, depths and hazard ratings for the defended and undefended scenarios across all climate change allowances
- The latest Risk of Flooding from Surface Water (RoFSW) mapping, including climate change allowances, analysed in GIS against site LiDAR topography to establish anticipated flood levels and depths across the site and access roads
- Flood risk information published by the local planning authority and lead local flood authority - Strategic Flood Risk Assessments, Local Flood Risk Management Strategies and Surface Water Management Plans - for the site and the wider area where available
- Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans published by the sewerage undertaker, reviewed for recorded sewer flooding in the area and any planned works to relieve it
- Readings from a nearby Environment Agency groundwater monitoring station, where an active record is held, to indicate anticipated groundwater levels and the associated flood risk
- Suitability of the development, including flood zone compatibility and recommended flood resistance and resilience measures
- Preliminary evacuation guidance and floodplain compensation analysis where required
